Interactive arcade-style games engage audiences

Detroit, Mich. (March 26, 2018) –The month of March has been flooded with gaming spirit as TimePlay hosted two interactive gaming tournaments across theatres in Toronto and Detroit theaters. In the process of crowning two tournament champions, TimePlay rewarded more than $10,000 in prizes to participants.

On Saturday, March 17, 2018, TimePlay held its first ever Toronto gaming tournament final at Scotiabank Theatre. One week later, the program shifted to Detroit at Emagine’s Novi location.

In both Toronto and Detroit, the tournament final culminated a month-long qualifier program where the top 20 ranked players (out of more than 100,000) went head to head to compete for cash prizes.  The event was also open to the general public to watch the finals and also compete in arcade and pop-culture trivia games.

TimePlay’s unique proposition turns participants mobile phones into controllers to play games on the cinema screen.  Unlike other platforms, TimePlay allows everyone in the audience to participate and compete. Moviegoers were thrilled to be playing on the big screen against each other and the competitive energy was at an all-time high.

“We were absolutely thrilled and excited that both events were such a success,” says Aaron Silverberg, Vice President, Marketing, TimePlay. “There was a huge line up to get into both events and we had to turn away hundreds of patrons who wanted to compete.”

Cineplex Pre-Show Host Tanner Zipchen  was featured at the first TimePlay Toronto event as the crowd boisterous cheered for the competitors. Both the Toronto and Detroit gaming events were at maximum capacity, showcasing TimePlay’s event gaming initiative as a unique and motivating social experience for movie-goers.
