Cineplex brings popular TimePlay experience across Canada
Movie-goers can interact with content on the big screen

TORONTO, ON – September 15, 2014 – The weather may be getting cooler, but Canadian movie-goers can bask in the warm glow of the winner’s spotlight beginning Monday, September 15, with the continuous opening of Cineplex TimePlay in select local theatres nationwide.
Cineplex TimePlay, the popular theatre experience previously available only in select Toronto and Vancouver theatres, turns movie-goers’ smart phones and tablets into hand-held controllers that interact with the big screen. During the Cineplex pre-show, guests compete with others in the same auditorium for the chance to win great prizes.

Past prizes have included SCENE points, advertiser discounts delivered directly to users’ devices, special offers from the Cineplex Store, contests to win free cell phones, discounts with retailers, and much more.
The TimePlay app is available on iOS, Android and Blackberry devices. Guests are encouraged to download the app prior to visiting the theatre. To date, the TimePlay app has been downloaded more than 1.7 million times, and realized nearly six million plays in Toronto and Vancouver since January 2012.
This fall, Cineplex will add TimePlay to select theatres in markets nationwide, presenting advertisers an unmatched opportunity to connect with Canadian movie-goers. In addition to TimePlay’s presence in Toronto and Vancouver, markets launching this fall include: Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Regina, Winnipeg, London, Waterloo, Oakville, Mississauga, Ottawa, Montreal, Halifax, Moncton, Saint John, St. John’s and Charlottetown.
